JOHN NURMINEN FOUNDATION
Birthday: 1994
Where are you from: Tampere, Finland
Sport: CrossFit
When did you start: 2016
Instagram: @katteluskm
How & why did you start:
I played baseball until I moved to study in 2014. In Tampere, I started to go to the gym mainly for superficial reasons. In 2016, I heard about CrossFit, and on the same day, I called the gym if they still had a spot left for the on-ramp course starting on that day. I got the place and thought, I will do CrossFit for the summer that I spent in my childhood home. Well, here we are: I’m still addicted and eager to find out how far I can go. I love the diversity and how goal-oriented CrossFit can be. Soon after starting, I noticed I’m good at this, and I have the potential to get better.
Your coolest sport memory:
In Karjalan Kovin in 2019, the first day was cold and rainy. The first event of that year included cycling, swimming, and running. I still remember the moment I had to step into the icy cold water. Swimming is not my strength, and I wasn’t looking forward to it. To my surprise, I did quite well in the swimming part, and I was so happy about my performance.
Your biggest goal:
I want to stay strong and healthy and be able to deep squat when I’m 60 years old. Before that, I want to keep training and see what I have to give on the competition floors.
Motto:
If you decide to do something, do it right straight away
