Especially seeing the big sales campaigns, summer sale, mid-season sale, Christmas sale, flash sale - you name it, makes anyone think, why not to buy two pairs of tights with a price of one instead of just one. We think it’s perfectly normal to doubt whether one can make a difference by choosing eco and fair or not.
Let’s give it a second thought. In the past decades, sustainability has become a global concern because of the climate crisis and global heating. More and more people are thinking about their consumption habits, and most of us want to make better choices. Additionally, many accept the concept of nourishing fresh foods such as veggies and fruit. If we eat cheap sugar covered foods only, it can’t lead into a healthy body and mind. However, we don't seem to make the connection between our wellbeing and the clothes we wear.
Most of the parts of supply chains are far away from us; materials are made and clothes are sewed somewhere in the world. We don't tend to think about the origin of our clothing daily, even though our clothes come very close to us - on our skin. If the material is uncomfortable or the cut is unfitting, we hardly feel good in our outfit. Secondly, it matters how and with which chemicals the fabrics are treated. Skin is the biggest organ of the human body and chemical residue can cause a risk of health issues. Lastly, knowing the origin of our clothes and the values behind our favourite brands, make us feel good.

Choosing ethical and responsible brands can make a difference for you; you choose quality clothes that feel good on your skin, do not consist of harmful chemicals, and you do feel good about the values behind your clothes too. Moreover, buying one pair of ethically made and high-quality tights with the full price does not only lead to a happy dance of the small business owner, but it’s more eco-friendly too. Buy less, choose well and make it last - that’s the mantra of a more sustainable future.
