Responsibility is our core value, and we don’t only think about sustainable issues when working on Népra. We care about making better choices in every facet of our lives. This is why we thought we should share about what we discovered places during our summer travels.
Ama was travelling first near her second home in the forests of Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany, and later on in South-Tirol, in the shadows of the breathtaking Dolomites. Elsa, on the other hand, was living simple van life in Northern Norway, enjoying the Lyngen Alps, the magical island of Senja, and the picturesque Lofoten islands. All of the destinations were reachable by a car and included many hours of hiking and spending time in nature.
It feels very grounding to spend most of your day outdoors, seeing trees, and feeling the summer breeze when the alternative is being stuck working indoors, staring at various screens, and feeling the stuffy air inside after forgetting to open the windows. Moving your body all day long feels like giving your mind a true break, after sitting for days, weeks, perhaps even months in front of your laptop. There is something extremely satisfying when the only goal of the day is to walk to the next trekking place or the next mountain cabin, instead of the never-ending to-do list of an entrepreneur.
More than anything, it feels good to slow down every now and then. We must let our brain take a rest from the hustle and bustle of the typical working week, and simply connect to your body. It is very easy to forget the principles of simple living and what matters in life when scrolling through that Instagram feed. Hiking, on the other hand, is like a forest bath that goes on for days. Reaching the top of a mountain, seemingly so far, makes you feel small, but in a good way. In the end, we are only small pieces of an enormous wholeness.
Népra is an activewear brand that does good. We think charity work is part of a sustainable business and doing good is in Népra’s DNA. This year, we will continue to work with the John Nurminen Foundation to help protect the Baltic Sea. For every product sold online, we donate 50 cents to charity.
