The current Coronavirus crisis has made us think about how we can lift others and give more. The unprecedented times we are living in have reminded us of what’s important while deepening our understanding of our own core values; how do we want to operate and where do we want to make a difference?
For a long time, we have wanted to tackle one of our core values, holistic health, here in the Speak of The Frog Népra Blog. Over the past two weeks we have collected so many thought-provoking insights and we just can’t wait to share them with you.
However, what would be a better start to our holistic wellbeing blog series than flavourful raw chocolate?
We want to introduce you to our favourite chocolate company; Goodio.
Goodio's handcrafted chocolate is the bread-and-butter of our wellbeing! These wholesome sweets are sustainably made with a few very important distinctions from other chocolate; firstly, without white sugar; secondly, they are manufactured raw, meaning they are made in low temperatures to save the rich flavour of cacao; and lastly, they’re organic, and primarily made with wild ingredients. It’s all good.
The founder of Goodio, Jukka Peltola, was working for Finnish video game developer Rovio before he started his own wellbeing journey and discovered the art of making chocolate. Initially he was simply making it for himself but soon he was asking, "What if there was a food brand you could trust?”
Népra and Goodio have many similarities; coincidentally both founded in 2015, we don’t only share the same values concerning sustainability and holistic health, but both companies are richly adding to their respective industries by focusing on these important things. It cannot necessarily be measured by profit, but it makes a tangible difference by promoting this philosophy above simply making money or selling products.
Chocolate is a deeply emotive product; making it and eating it really does evoke strong feelings seldom experienced from other foods. While it might be a stretch to say our activewear does the same, ultimately that is also Népra’s goal; to make activewear that makes you feel good. You don’t need to be a good connoisseur to know that good chocolate definitely makes you feel good!
Jukka Peltola sums it up well when talking about chocolate; “It’s a food of the gods.”
It has been very inspirational to follow Goodio’s journey as they have already expanded in other Nordic countries, Germany, the UK, the USA, Canada, and Russia.
We are grateful for the chocolate Goodio makes and for our friendship with Jussi Salonen, the CEO and Founder of Goodio USA. This might sound cheesy, but hey, we Finns really should learn to give thanks. 😉
